BOBBY SANABRIA

SYMPHONY SPACE / MAY 6

The Grammy nominated, Bronx-born, drummer, percussionist and bandleader Bobby Sanabria has been a keeper of the Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz flame for three decades. He’s worked with many legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria and Paquito D’Rivera. He founded his MULTIVERSE Big Band in 1998. His 10 albums as a leader include West Side Story Reimagined, and his latest album, Vox Humana. A Berklee College of Music alumnus who is the Co-Artistic Director of the Bronx Music Heritage Center, a teacher at The New School and the Manhattan School of Music and the host of the Latin Jazz Cruise on WBGO-FM, Bobby performs sans his orchestra at Symphony Space’s celebration of Duke Ellington’s 125th Birthday in The City of Jazz, providing the vivid and vital Spanish tinge to this Ducal event.
